MORGANTON, NC (WBTV) – Business was steady at lottery ticket counters across the Carolinas on Tuesday as the jackpot for Tuesday night's Mega Millions lottery drawing topped $363,000,000.
Only two other jackpots in the game's history have been higher. In March, 2007 the jackpot reached 390 million dollars and just over a year ago the total was close to 380 million dollars.
"I got my ticket" said one woman at a convenience store near Valdese on Tuesday.
Joe Cline at the East West Store said people have been coming in to buy the mega millions tickets as well as the Carolina Cash 5 which has seen its jackpot grow to $400,000.
Mega Millions is held in 43 states as well as the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands. Odds of winning are estimated to be close to 200 million to one. Still, that has not stopped people from taking a chance at one of the largest jackpots in history.
If no one has the six numbers in Tuesday night's drawing, the jackpot will grow and could come close to taking over the top spot in jackpot dollars for Friday's drawing.
