DNCC launches statewide community outreach program | Politics

CHARLOTTE - The Democratic National Convention Committee today announced that it will launch a community outreach campaign that will touch all 100 North Carolina Counties, engaging citizens in the convention planning process. 

During the months of January and February, the DNCC Intergovernmental Affairs and Outreach team will spend time across the state talking to community leaders, citizens and elected officials to identify 100 Convention Community Organizers (CCOs), who will serve as ambassadors to the convention in their counties and communities across the state.

“With the 100 County Plan, we hope to engage a Convention Community Organizer (CCO) from each county in the state and  gather ideas to help ensure that this Convention is truly representative of the state of North Carolina, and reflective of the ideas of its citizens,” stated Steve Kerrigan, DNCC CEO.

In 2012, the DNCC will embark on a wider outreach strategy with its 100 County Plan.  The CCOs will play an important role in sharing news and updates on the convention, and serving as a link between the DNCC and the 100 North Carolina county communities.   

The 100 County Plan CCOs will help promote the importance of the DNCC 2012 as a state-wide event for North Carolina; help to recruit and coordinate volunteers; present opportunities to encourage North Carolinians to utilize the vendor directory and help develop and implement community service projects in their counties. The DNCC plans to announce the names of the 100 County Community Organizers in March 2012.
