Photo Gallery | Funeral plans set for father, son killed on motorcycle

MORGANTON, NC (WBTV) - The funeral for a father and son who were killed while riding their motorcycle will be held this Friday.

Stephen Brent Moody and his son Kevin were riding on a motorcycle with friends just ahead of them on another motorcycle when a woman  came around the corner into their lane.

Stephen Moody, 42 was a graduate of East Burke High School and had previously worked at Highland House Furniture, Focus Leather and currently Flower's Bread Company where he was a route salesman. He was a member of Ambassador Baptist Church.

"Brent was saved by grace and died riding his motorcycle with his son, Kevin, whom he loved dearly. He was greatly loved and will be missed," Stephen Moody's obituary said.

Kevin Moody, 19, was a 2011 graduate of Heritage Christian School and had previously worked at Fair Value. He was a varsity athlete, member of the Conservative Club and acted in the spring drama.

"He was the most wonderful son a mother could ask for and was taken much too soon," his obituary said.

A celebration of both men's lives will be held at Ambassador Baptist Church Friday, Oct. 28, at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Robert Setzer and Pastor Shawn Davis officiating.

Burial will take place at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Hickory immediately following the service.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 prior to the service. Memorials may be sent to Heritage Christian School, 239 Mt. Herman Rd., Hudson, NC 28638. Amie Jo Skeens, 37, was charged with driving While Impaired and Felony Hit and Run after the wreck on Airport-Rhodhiss Road.

The first motorcycle was sideswiped but the Moody's motorcycle was hit head-on, throwing father and son into the windshield and onto the roadway.
