Photo Gallery | Weather played part in massive barn fire, officials say
BURKE COUNTY - Investigators in Burke County think the cold weather played a part in this massive barn fire in Sunday morning.
Officials aren't sure what sparked the blaze at a barn along Jenkins Road just south of Morganton Sunday morning.
Firefighters say a cold, dry wind pushed the flames into dozens of bales of hay stored about 100 feet away.
The barn is a total loss. There's no estimate yet on the damage.
